Janez Vrečko: SREČKO KOSOVEL. MONOGRAFIJA

Thursday, March 22nd – book presentation:  »Srečko Kosovel. Monograph«. The life and opus of Srečko Kosovel was discussed by Janez Vrečko and Andrej Brvar.

Kosovel's collected works, quite extensive regarding his youth, have already been edited by Anton Ocvirk, and published over a lengthy period between 1946 and 1977. It was the Kosovel opus that started the publishing of the Collected works' collection. This significant opus is now enhanced with a monograph display. Janez Vrečko, a true connoisseur of Kosovel's work will be presenting Kosovel's gradual, not always one-directional development from impressionism through expressionism to the avant-garde movements, and shows how with Kosovel, several literary movements have often developed simultaneously or in a sequence. The author's attention is mainly devoted to the explanation of Kosovel's constructivism. According to his findings it is one of the most important directions of Kosovel's opus, and it is in this field that the monograph has dicovered a number of novelties. The monograph is supported by 30 documentary photographs, with some of the objects or documents showing for the first time in this edition.
