Emzin Magazine and Arne Hodalič in Kibla

MMC Kibla and Emzin Institute of Creative Production - the presentation of Emzin Arts Magazine: Contemporary Russia and a feature by Arne Hodalič on his journey to Siberia on Thursday 27th November 2008 at 8 pm.

Presentation of the magazine was accompanied by a talk and photo presentation by Arne Hodalič. This was the first occasion for Emzin Institute of Creative Production to produce a photo feature, which was made on the journey to Siberia (Yamal Peninsula) where the photographer met the ingenious people of Nenets.

Emzin Arts Magazine, XVIII, 1-2, topic: Contemporary Russia

The latest issue of Emzin seeks to shed light on the current state of the contemporary Russian society. The idea is that such a large and heterogeneous country could be comprehended with the help of the analysis and presentation of key social and cultural systems.Quick changes in the Russian society have raised the demand for reflection and presentation of social and other phenomena of the 21st century Russia. We wish to show various dimensions of contemporary Russia as a notion within sociology, anthropology, as well as political and cultural sciences. Furthermore, we ar  interested in issues related to contemporary Russian literature, visual arts etc.Using this thematic issue we wish to present the contemporary Russian reality outside the usual black&white Western perspective predominantly labelling contemporary Russian phenomena based on dichotomous divisions into "good" and "bad", "democratic" and "totalitarian" etc.We have been particularly interested in points of view of Russian people living in Slovenia, of contemporary Russian cultural creators, of people whose paths have been related to Russia in one way or another, and last but not least of our domestic authors whose academic and professional interests include social, cultural, political and other issues of contemporary Russia.

Special thanks for the support of the magazine: Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia, Tiskarna Hren, Camera
Special thanks for the support of photo feature production: Ars Longa
