Looking through the keyhole - discussion on media

Tuesday 17/06/2008 at 5 pm MMC Kibla - the discussion on contemporary media with the central topic of 'looking through the keyhole'. Snežana Štabi discussed this and other topics with Kaja Jakopič and Melita Zajc. The discussion was supported by video and audio materials.

Television functions as a keyhole, enabling us insight into certain development, at the same time believing it can focus our view by limiting it. In case of reality shows it also provides the allure of the 'forbidden' view through the keyhole, despite the consensus of participants.

Kaja Jakopič is a journalist, for many years the main editor of Studio City TV magazine, currently a project manager in RTV Slovenia multimedia centre with special interest in web TV and blogging. She is the author of several theoretical articles on television, with special focus on reality TV and TV voyeurism, which is also the topic of her own book.

Melita Zajc combines practical work and research in the field of traditional and new media. She has cooperated with ISH institute since 1994, participating in several research projects. She works as the head of education for new media in RTV Slovenia and as a lecturer of Media Theory at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (FERI) in Maribor, programme Media Communications.
