Labyrinths of love in Slovenian literature

Monday 16/06/2008 at 8 pm, MMC Kibla - the presentation of the book Labyrinths of love in Slovenian literature from romanticism to World War II. The talk with the author Katja Mihurko Poniž was conducted by Meta Blagšič.

The book presents the first major research of literary works that includes the findings of studying gender roles,i.e. the treatment of femininity and masculinity, and rather than usingthe established method of interpreting the well--known texts it focuseson motifs of love, sexuality, eroticism and marriage.

Within her research the author studied fifty-four writers of a variety of works(poetry, drama, narrative), both consolidated and less-known, theneglected, forgotten or simply ignored, which provides the book withadditional value and reinforces its pioneer nature.

Katja Mihurko Ponižis a doctor of feminine studies and feminist theory, the author of amonography on Zofka Kveder (Daringly Different. Zofka Kveder and imagesof femininity, 2004), employed at the School of Humanities, Universityof Nova Gorica.
