Talk with Jurij Hudolin

Thursday 15th May 2008 at 8 pm, ACE Kibla -  the talk with the writer Jurij Hudolin on his new latest novel Pastorek.

Petra Bauman discussed with Jurij Hudolin his latest novel Pastorek, a disturbing account of a very difficult childhood in a small village in Istria. The story on violence in the family is frighteningly realistic, as the writer does not avoid the complexity of tormented child's feelings, his fear and hatred towards the step dad and at the same time his power.

The poet Jurij Hudolin, born in 1973 in Ljubljana, entered the literary scene very early as he published his first collection of poetry Če je laž kralj (If lie is king, 1991) himself when he was eighteen and immediately joined the most important poets of his generation. From the very beginning the rebellious pose in a world with no values is typical of him, which results in his surrealist suggestiveness and dark symbolism, thus nearing the poetics of Dane Zajc. He is also close to the images of Jože Tisnikar, which he included in one of his books.
