Presentation of the novel Na zeleno vejo by Andrej Predin on Monday 17th December at 8pm in ACE Kibla.

This book is a literary first for the young author, yet his first literary attempt convinces the readers with its stile, humour and imagination. The host of the evening Urša Jerkič disclosed much and many a thing in conversation with Andrej, and the accompanying programme provided the reminiscence of Maribor as described in the novel.

The book uses the metaphor of the green branch as the ideal of settled and materially secure life. The evolving story keeps approaching and moving away from the goal, which is eventually never achieved by literary persons. While adults are dealing with business and settling their social circumstances, teenagers are faced with different worries: Where to go Friday evening? Why not wear an earring in the left ear? Which is the second largest Slovenian island? Why is it worth training acrobatic rock 'n' roll? Why do girls say "no" and think "yes"? It is the time right after the independence of Slovenia, the stories from the streets, the struggles and delights of growing up, first loves and first fights, first victories and first defeats. And Maribor as it still might be today.
