Traditions in east asian cultures and modernism

On Friday, the 9th of June 2006 at 6pm you were invited to MMC Kibla to the »Tema v temi« lecture organized by Za:misel bookstore.

Complicated systems of intercultural influences act throughout history as an encouraging factor for new iconographical, artistic and technological solutions. In the era of modernism mutual influences have grown stronger and helped to form some basic elements of modern art and postmodernism.  

Chinese painter Wang Huiqin
will introduce traditional East Asian technic of caligraphy and sculptor Jože Barši his experience with East Asian culture that has left an important mark on his work.
The discussion was moderated by Tanja Mastnak.

JOŽE BARŠI
Born  in 1955 in Ljubljana. Graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana where he now works as a professor. He exhibited his work on many solo and group exhibitions and is the winner of many awards.    
TANJA MASTNAK

Born 1962 in Ljubljana. Graduated from art history at the Faculyt of Arts in Ljubljana. She got her PhD in historical anthroplogy at the ISH Institute. Works as a history of art professor on the High Vocational school for painting in Ljubljana.  
WANG HUIQIN

Born in 1955 in Nantong.Graduated from the fine arts department at the Pedagogical University in Nanjing. She lives and works in Ljubljana and has exhibited on many solo and group exhibitions and is the winner of many awards.
