On Tuesday, 19 May 2026, at 6 p.m., we kindly invite you to the opening of an exhibition of new works by two artists who were first presented in Puzić Gallery two years ago (the exhibition After the Battle, All Generals Are “Fucked” – Dream Worlds on Canvas by Bojan Šumonja and Marko Jakše, 14 May–19 June 2024) and who caused a sensation with their extremely surreal and playfully mysterious paintings.
... In the works of Marko Jakše, who represented Slovenia at the 2022 Venice Biennale, multi-layered, ironic creatures wander through his dazzling dreamscapes – quotations from ancient and classical art and pop art appear, figures and animals bow and drown, then reappear.
Bojan Šumonja has exhibited more than 100 times across Europe and the USA. His rich, baroque compositions often depict sheep, skinny flamingos, birds, refugees, and superheroes in absurd and dangerous scenarios.
The exciting paintings of these two Eastern European artists exude surprising chromatic peculiarities and intertwine diverse, often surrealistic motifs and spatial systems.
