Living Conditions of Young People in Slovenia – consultation at Brdo pri KranjuOn 17 and 18 November 2009, the national panel discussion “Living Conditions of Young People in Slovenia” was held at Brdo pri Kranju, organised by the Office for Youth. ACE KIBLA was represented at the discussion by Štefan Simončič.
The national panel discussion is the first attempt at a confrontation of the situation (presented by experts in working groups), needs and expectations of the youth sector (presented by representatives of youth organisations) and activities of decision-makers in particular sector policies (representatives of public institutions). The discussion was organised in the framework of developing the National Youth Programme.
The content of the discussion was based on the current situation and the statistical analysis that was executed by the Social Protection Institute and Statistical Office RS in cooperation with the Office for Youth.
The discussion was attended by approximately 140 youth workers, experts, representatives of state bodies and political decision-makers. It was launched by the Slovenian Prime Minister Borut Pahor, whereas the guests included dr. Igor Lukšič, Minister of Education and Sport, Tine Radinja, President of European Youth Forum, Dejan Levanič, president of the National Assembly RS Subcommittee on Youth and Kamal I. Shaker, President of National Youth Council of Slovenia.
The main purpose of the discussion was to acquire the information on key issues and challenges of young people in Slovenia based on actual data as well as experience and interests of the youth sector. The aim was to integrate the findings as much as possible in the discussion on the contents of the future National Youth Programme, which is to be adopted in the first half of 2011.
