Mitja Ficko in Marko Jakše: POJOČA RIBA IJEKARU, exhibition opening

Mitja Ficko and Marko Jakše: POJOČA RIBA IJEKARU

KiBela/KIBLA, Friday, 4 December 2015, 7 p. m.
Guest appearance by Mateja Gorjup

Special guest appearance by Mateja Gorjup, singer and interpreter of the Slovenian folk song legacy and musical tradition, will accompany the exhibition with a presentation of her debut release dubbed IJEKARU.

Marko Jakše (1959) and Mitja Ficko (1973) attained their BA degrees after attending the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana, Department of Painting, under the mentorship of Metka Krašovec. Their works have been showcased in numerous solo and group exhibitions home and abroad, receiving several national and international awards and recognitions. Many of them form part of publicly and privately owned collections. Marko Jakše and Mitja Ficko currently operate as independent workers in the field of culture.

Mateja Gorjup, singer and educator, has been involved for a number of years with learning about, and interpreting the traditional folk song legacy. What interests her in the most far-reaching creative sense, is the unspeakable scope of vocal expression and its melodiousness. Her solo debut IJEKARU has been released just recently, a collection of twenty-four pieces, mostly composed by the author herself.
