Ženini (Bridegrooms) - film screening and discussion

ACE Kibla and Zofijini ljubimci, association for promotion of humanities, Wednesday 11/06/2008 at 8 pm - the screening of »Ženini« (Bridegrooms) documentary film by Igor Zupe. The screening was followed by a discussion with the director Igor Zupe and a member of Irwin Group Roman Uranjek.

In 53 minutes, »Ženini« (Bridegrooms) documentary film tells the story of the »retro-avantgarde« artistic group Irwin and of their activity. The camera in hands of Igor Zupe followed the group from October 2003 when their retrospective exhibition Retroprincip was staged in Berlin to April 2007 when Irwin participated at a group exhibition in Hamburg with the installation The Corpse of Art. The film score was written by Dejan Knez (Laibach), production was in the hands of Zupe's partners  – Nord Cross Production, Studio Maj and national television, and the film was also supported by the Slovenian Ministry of culture. The producer of »Ženini« is Dunja Klemenc.

Irwin is a Slovenian artistic group dating back to 1983 and comprising: Dušan Mandič, Miran Mohar, Andrej Savski, Roman Uranjek and Borut Vogelnik. They belong to the collective called NSK. The group is a phenomenon of its own kind in European contemporary art. In 2004 they received the Jakopič prize, the major annual price for Slovenian visual arts.

Igor Zupe was born in Murska Sobota. He graduated in TV and film direction from AGRFT Academy in Ljubljana. His filmography that has gained him several awards comprises films, TV shows, music videos and commercials.
