Indian music from deserts of Rajasthan

On Friday, the 12th of October 2007, at 9pm you were kindly invited to attend the concert of Samandar Khan Manganiar & the Artists of the Folk Heritage Foundation of Rajasthan.

In the vibrant and evocative music of the desert land of Rajasthan everything from the brightness of the day to legends of heroism and romance is captured. Rajasthani music is rich, evocative, heroic, plaintive, joyfull and comes from an old and undisturbed tradition. They have a tradition of music and are well versed in songs on every facet of life. These are traditional communities and their skills are handed down from generation through verbal teaching. Their music is supported by unique traditional instruments such as Khadtal, Kamayacha, Sarangi, Dholak etc. Manganiar & Langas are artist who are masters in Light classical music, Kathak dance, ragas, Sufism or a mix of classical and folk the desert symphony (Ridam of Rajasthan).
