Lecture by Eva D. Bahovec: PIPPI LONGSTOCKING AS A MIGRANT – The others, the different, the dissimilar, and the logic of exclusion

MMC KIBLA, Thursday, 24 November 2016, at 7 p. m.

Welcome to a free public lecture by dr. Eva D. Bahovec entitled PIPPI LONGSTOCKING AS A MIGRANT – The others, the different, the dissimilar, and the logic of exclusion.
The logic of exclusion is one of the oldest, most dangerous and stupidest logics of our civilization. The philosophical, scientific, and artistic practices create it, and the conservative and pro-fascist politics disseminate it. Even the Fortress Europe is less and less effective in facing such Orbanian anti-migrational artifices, or - which is the other side of the same logic - the new-fashioned Polish, and now even Slovenian politics of enslaving "indigenous" women.
It is therefore high time to detect the logic of exclusion in more detail, and to draw from it, but at the same time past it, with a view to strengthening the logic of resistance. The latter connects Foucault's critique of exclusion with Deleuze's attack against stupidity into a new Nietzschean healing motto: To harm, above all!
Eva D. Bahovec, PhD, is Full Professor at the Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana.
