We invite you to the second event of the MIGAV Cycle in 2026, for which a sound and media artist, musician and multimedia experimenter Jiří Suchánek has prepared a unique performance that will take place on Friday, 5 June 2026, at 7 p.m. at MMC KIBLA.

The sounds unfolding beneath our feet remain outside our sensory experience for most of our lives. Yet the movements of earthworms, bioturbation of sediments, water infiltration, soil subsidence, and other soil processes create an immensely rich, silent, and hidden sonic world. The sound performance Wormstorm will be generated from the live sound of moving earthworms, combined with underground recordings of them and with sounds of water seeping through soil. These will be processed live using signals from sensors measuring soil moisture. Listening thus turns downward - toward the place where constant transformation takes place in the dark. The complex processes of organic matter digestion enriching soil composition, the network of underground tunnels, and the oxygenation of soil - all of this has enabled, and continues to enable, the existence of life as we know it.

Charles Darwin wrote of earthworms: "It may be doubted whether there are many other animals which have played so important a part in the history of the world, as have these lowly organised creatures."

At this moment, there are approximately 7 million of these organisms for every single person on Earth.

Jiří Suchánek (CZ) is a sound and media artist, musician and multimedia experimenter. His artistic approach is synthetic. In his works he combines sound, light, sculptural objects, electronics + code with carefully chosen spaces. Through his work he explores the relationship between nature, technology and the durability of electronic media in wild climatic situations. He studied at the Faculty of Arts of the Brno University of Technology, where he now runs the sound studio. He is a founder of the Svitava Lab collective.
