KIBLIX 2025 | MIGAV Music Cycle: Petra Kapš
MIGAV Music Cycle Petra Kapš (alias OR poiesis): Irreversible Loop. Cosmic Transmission of Glaciers live sound performance featuring Nikos Sotirelis Thursday, 20 November 2025, at 8 p.m. KIBLA PORTAL
Irreversible Loop. Cosmic Transmission of Glaciers explores the relationship between bodies and extremely distant other, unknown microbiomes – glacial bodies in elemental environments. In August 2023, the artist ascended the remaining glaciers in Slovenian territory and listened to their ancient sonorities with her body and microphones.
“When I sat with the glaciers on Skuta and Triglav, trembling from heightened awareness and cold, listening to the sacred breath of the mountains and the complex structures of the language of ancient waters accumulated in the glacial body, a powerful intuition overcame me: the icy waters high in the mountains are bodies of cosmic transmission – receivers of cosmic particles and transmitters of their own mysterious sonic presence, a cosmic radio. When you are up there, you feel it deeply through the body, like the inspired meteorologists and practitioners of ancient Greek oracular practice, who used their resonant bodies and breath to listen to the Earth and the cosmos.”
The collected (post)glacial sonic material forms the core of the performance, which OR poiesis will present live, interwoven with glacial instruments, enigmatic radio-like sound, and recordings of electromagnetic emissions and stray echoes captured by Nikos Sotirelis at the ancient sanctuary on the Greek island of Samothrace.
Petra Kapš (a.k.a. OR poiesis) is an artist, composer, and researcher specializing in bioacoustics, geoacoustics, and hydroacoustics. Her practice connects the living dynamics of elemental matter and the mysteries of the Earth with Arte Sonora, experimental music, and visual-performative approaches, emphasizing intimacy within planetary mysteries and cosmic resonances. Her work develops modalities of deep attention, embodied listening and recording, creating artworks that highlight the sacredness of all forms of life. Influenced by place, a passionate longing for silence, and the exploration of ecstatic, chthonic, and spherical sonic phenomena, she works in both Slovenian and international contexts. She is co-founder of BIOM editions, a founding member of CENSE (Central European Network for Sonic Ecologies), and a member of the bioacoustic collective JATA C.
