We invite you to the first event of this year`s MIGAV cycle, full of original music and video projections by the duo Kühlschrank, which will take place on Thursday, 3 July 2025, at 8 p.m. at MMC KIBLA.
Kühlschrank first appeared on the Slovenian music scene in 2012, when it was included on the compilation "Imamo dobro glasbo" with the song "Skrivnostno nebo", in which the self-taught musician already outlined the thematic contours that he remains faithful to today. His lyrics deal with relationships – to oneself and loved ones, to the world and surroundings – and the perception of space and time in which we live. As Miroslav Akrapović wrote in his album review: "The end of an era: this is an exciting solo debut that, despite its melancholic aftertaste, does not lack sincere passion. The intimate lyrical confession is always accompanied by a dramaturgically crafted sonic backdrop that not only emphasizes the lyrics but draws the space where they took place. Kühlschrank skillfully combines his acoustic guitar with the musical aesthetics of the nineties, which emerged at the intersection of British alternative indie rock and acclaimed Britpop."
Kühlschrank is the musical project of Simon Fugina, who released the album "Konec nekega obdobja" (The End of an Era) in autumn 2022. The album contains 13 tracks that were created over the past decade of creativity and, as the title suggests, round off a certain period.
"The first half of the album is completely subordinated to storytelling, which is cultivated among others by New York alt-rockers Interpol. Simon's singing is static, the themes he addresses in relatively complex but not always abstract mental combinations mostly relate to movements, touches, glances and sensations of someone in the poet's immediate vicinity," wrote Matjaž Ambrožič in his review upon the album's release.
Now as a duo (Simon Fugina and Dejan Osterman), they create new songs that they sporadically release as singles. The latest such is the song "Skozi čas", in which they combine mystical floating sounds and dramatic atmospheric breaks that complement the deep emotional message. The song explores universal themes such as searching and loss, passing and longing, but also hope that love will always be present despite all obstacles and temporal distances.
Kühlschrank concerts are always accompanied by original video projections that interweave with the songs, complement the lyrics and paint atmosphere to the melodies. This creates an ambiance that takes the audience into an intimate, wandering lyrical world.
