ROMfest 09: AMZA TAIROV and EUROPA orchestra - concert

Saturday 10 October 2009 at 9 pm, KIBLA Association for Culture and Education invites - the final ROMfest event featuring the performance of Amza Tairov, Macedonian Roma music star, and Europa orchestra.

Amza Tairov, the star of indigenous Roma music coming from Vinica shall perform in Slovenia for the first time. His concert in Kibla will be supported by an 8-member orchestra.

In 2008, KID KIBLA, supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia, created an education and culture festival dedicated to Roma minority in Slovenia. There is about 2000 Roma people living in and around Maribor. The festival has been particularly founded with the intention of providing Roma population with a festival they see as their own. It was not our intention to invite Roma musicians of world fame, known particularly to “gadji” (the majority non-Roma population) and performing around Europe, but to Roma artists who have been avoiding the commercial scene and still play pristine Roma music.
