Danilo Milovanović: Corrections

Danilo Milovanović: Corrections
7–24 June 2021
artKIT

We kindly invite you to Danilo Milovanović's exhibition entitled Corrections, which will be on view at the artKIT gallery from Monday, 7 June 2021.

INVITATION (PDF)

With this exhibition, the artist responds to the position of culture and art within the current political climate in Slovenia. The government's impatient attitude towards the media, progressive art and the social values that define a contemporary, open an inclusive society has triggered a high level of mistrust and feelings of insecurity. Offensive rhetoric at the level of public discourse has become part of daily life, and expertise is a prisoner of political decision-making. Milovanovic responds to this situation by outplaying current terms and statements from public discourse. By intervening in the selected words in such way, he significantly changes the meanings of the original statements, thus highlighting the symptoms of the current local political atmosphere. In a humorous, sometimes cynical way, he strongly opposes the politics of unambiguity and defends contemporary culture and freedom of expression.
