Timo Tuhkanen (b. 1983), MMus, is a Finnish composer, poet, editor, and plastic artist. He studied composition, improvisation and conducting at Brunel University under Richard Barrett, Christopher Fox and Peter Wiegold. Most recently he participated in Peter Ablingers Ulysses Network project “Composition Beyond Music” at The Time of Music Festival, and his collaborative compositino PALI-ULI was premierd at the prestigious Mu- sic Nova music festival. He has participated in classes ranging from
performance artist Stelarc to composers Tom Johston, Chaya Czernowin and choreographer Rosemary Butcher, and has, among others, collaborated with the London Sinfonietta, Mira Calix, Peter Wiegold, Hannu Karjalainen, Katie Keeble, Jukka-Pekka Kervinen, Marko Timlin, Colin Holter, David Muoz, PINK TWINS, Egle Oddo, and Andrew Bentley.

As well as music Timo also works as a poet, novelist, editor and translator, and has been a visiting lecturer at Aalto University (on sound and image), Art School Maa (Phenomenology of Contemporary Art and Experi- mental Moving Image). At the moment his work focuses on combining image with sound and developing new compositional techniques in order to solve inherent problems in this duality.
