KIBLA is a World Summit Award for e-Content and Creativity partner – the world wide contest for multimedia contents and applications under the patronage of the WSIS – the United Nations' first World Summit on the Information Society, in December 2003 in Geneva, Switzerland and in 2005 in Tunisia.

In 2009 Kibla was coorganizer of ASEUM, the 1st International New Media Art Festival in the Philippines, together with SABAW Media Art Kitchen (Philippines) and Asia-Europe Foundation. After 2009 ASEUM intends to become Asia-Europe Multimedia centers network and platform for arts, education and research. More about festival on: http://aseum09.tk/

Our president and curator Aleksandra Kostič was a judge at The Webby Awards 2000 (Internet Oscars) in San Francisco and became a member of the International Academy for Art and Technology whose members are (among many others) David Bowie, Laurie Anderson, Francis Ford Coppola, Matt Groening, Tina Brown, etc.

In 2005 counsellor Peter Tomaž Dobrila became advisor of the Ars electronica festival, one of the most eminent and renowned intermedia events in the world.

In the year 2001 we co-organized Medi@terra festival in Athens, a cultural event that belongs in the so called Cultural Olympics as proclaimed by the Greek government between the years 2001-2004. Festival was organized in the context of the olympic games in Athens in the year 2004. Within the spheres of the European Multimedia Forum (EMF) with headquarters in Brussels we have actively cooperated on the European Multimedia Association convention (EMMAC) as world multimedia meeting Milia 2002 (in Cannes) participants. We were also invited to join the International Federation of Multimedia Associations (FIAM- IFMA) with headquarters in Montreal, Canada and we participated in the World Summit On Internet and Multimedia in Switzerland.

Our international references enclose publications in printed and electronic media, for example a publication in the Leonardo magazine, International association of art, science and technology (MIT press) which is one of the most acknowledged in this field, and in Flash Art magazine which is one of the top three art magazines in the world.

Famous Australian artist Stelarc's opinion about MMC KIBLA »this is the best cyber place in the world«, the famous Eduardo Kac from Chicago said »you can not find a place like this even in the USA«, university professor and writer Joseph Tabbi added »I came to Slovenia because I heard about KIBLA«. Mladina magazine article heading: «Go to Maribor because of Kibla«, Nedelo newspaper: «Because of its space capacities and conceptual planning that unite gallery, performance places, specialized bookstore and cyberbar Maribor Kibla is definetely the most exemplary project of this kind«. Romanian newspaper CLUJENAUI wrote: »KIBLA is the most important and the biggest multimedia centre in the Central and Eastern Europe.« The artist, scientist, researcher and professor on the Caxias do Sul Univeristy in Brazil, dr. Diana Domingues perceived:«Kibla is a very impressive environment and you are the soul of this paradise in Slovenia«.
