Thursday, 4 July 1996 – MMC KIBLA opens in Narodni dom Maribor after almost a year of renovation and adaptation of the premises.
1997 sees the beginning of Days of Curiosity – How to become?
1998 we are legally established as the KIBLA Association for Culture and Education.
1998 we open Za:Misel bookstore for social sciences and humanities.
1998 the contemporary art collection TOX – Timetable for the Three Thousands emerges from the cultural magazine TOX – Timetable for the Nineties.
1999 sees the opening of KiBela, a space for contemporary art.
2000 we take the first steps towards establishing the Network of Multimedia Centers of Slovenia (M3C), which in 2004 becomes the first contemporary cultural project in Slovenia to receive funding from the European Regional Development Fund.
2002 we launch the KIBLIX Festival, establish the KIT Communication and Information Point, and obtain our first European cultural project.
2004 we change management, renovate KIBLA MMC, and launch a new website.
2005 we prepare the Slovenian participation program for the Cork 2005 – European Capital of Culture project.
2006–2007 we prepare the successful candidacy for Maribor 2012 – European Capital of Culture, including partner cities of the Eastern Cohesion Region (Murska Sobota, Novo mesto, Ptuj, Slovenj Gradec, Velenje).
2007 we launch the audio-video festival (DA)(NE)S.
2008 we become the first institution in Slovenia to coordinate a European cooperation with third countries project (Hallerstein with China) and a large-scale European cooperation project (X-OP: Exchange of Operators and Producers of the Arts).
2008 the European Multimedia Forum (EMF) awards us its Award for Excellence in Multimedia.
2008 we launch the revitalization of Slovenian castles through the Festival of Love.
2008 we establish MED – Maribor Electronic Destination, an international festival of electronic and electro-acoustic music.
2009 sees the founding of Folio – a magazine for contemporary art, culture, and the joy of life.
2012 we secure the coordination of the large-scale European project Soft Control and launch KIBLA PORTAL.
2013 we are recognized as Slovenia’s most successful cultural institution in European project calls.
2015 we conceive, develop, and publish Slovenia’s first digitally augmented book.
2016 we secure the coordination of the large-scale European project Risk Change.
2019 we secure the Network of Research Arts and Culture Centers – RUK project together with Delavski dom Trbovlje Cultural Center and Association PiNA from Koper.
2020 we launch KIBLA2LAB.
2021 we open the intermedia exhibition VRTN!CA in the Arboretum Volčji Potok.
2022 we open the hybrid museum exhibition Invisible Maribor: Archduke Janez, the Father of Meranovo and receive an award for it from the Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences of the University of Maribor.
2024 we renovate the KIBLA PORTAL.
