KIBLIX 2020-2021: Slovenia Global Game Jam

Slovenia Global Game Jam

Want to start the new year by developing a game in 48 hours? Want to learn 3D modeling, programming, drawing, or creating music? Are you ready to experiment and do something memorable for your friends or complete strangers online?

In January 2014, KID KIBLA was part of the global Game Jam event for the first time. This year, together with the Slovenian Game Developers Association - GAMES SLOVENIA, we invite you to this year's online Slovenia Global Game Jam again.

This year's Slovenia Global Game Jam will take place from 27. to 31. January 2021, preparations for it and workshops on 2D / 3D content design, programming, and sound design will be organized the week before.

All activities, including the development of ideas, team building, chat, development, and presentation of final products, will take place on the Discord server of Slovenia Games.

The theme for the content of the games will be revealed on 27 January.

The event is organized by the Slovenian Game Developers Association, KIBLA, and KIBLA2LAB as part of the KIBLIX festival.

Miha Rataj: Unity Tips and Tricks

Miha Rataj will give a talk about Unity Tips and Tricks, Unity is a real-time development platform, widely used to create interactive experiences and games. Miha has more than 10 years experience in the IT field, but for the last 4 years, he has been working at Ekipa2 d.o.o (Outfit7 subsidiary) as a Principal Software Engineer where he is DEV Lead on a new unannounced game.



Žiga Pavlovič: Innovative Controllers

The presentation is about different ways we can imagine interacting with computers or other people, through games. Game Jams are the perfect events to mock up your own controller ideas and we’ll talk about how to start. Žiga is the creative lead at KIBLA2LAB,  interaction designer, programmer, maker, and promoter of new technologies.


Nik Maierle: Blender Bootcamp

Blender Bootcamp is an introductory lecture on open-source 3D design software Blender. He will bring you up to speed with one of the most used 3D tools and show you little tricks and gems that he learned through the years! Nik Maierle is a self-taught 3D artist, with experience in the industry, game jams and education.



Brin Žvan: Instant N̶o̶o̶d̶l̶e̶s̶ Game and how to make it feel good

Brin will talk about game design tips and what you should be mindful of to make your game fun.
Don't miss out on useful TIPS that could help you create an AWESOME game at Global Game Jam! Brin Žvan is a game designer with an enormous amount of games ranging from 3-hour prototypes to a bit bigger games. He is currently studying game design at IT University of Copenhagen.


Maja Vavpotič: Live Drawing Session - Going from an idea to concept

You are all welcome to join in the brainstorming and draw along as she shares different approaches for getting ideas, staying creative and on track to finish your game. Maja Vavpotič is a freelance 2D artist with experience in the game and publishing industry.


Maja Šalamon: Audio Atmopshere

Join us and discover a greater perspective on how to enrich your next project with audio from a magical forest to the void of space. Learn a few basic techniques that stereotypically define a certain environmental atmosphere and that can be your foundation either as a music composer, SFX artist or a developer/director in bringing your vision to life.

Maja Šalamon (AQUAGON) is a self-taught aspiring music composer for video games, animations, orchestras, films, trailers, YouTubers and streamers. She works with various different styles from orchestral to electronic and is always keenly learning new instruments and vocals to incorporate in her work. She's been a part of various different projects over the years and dabbles in many different fields which broader her perspective on what makes certain things tick. She was a select favourite winner of Hans Zimmer & Lorne Balfe's composing competition in 2017 and co-won with her collaborator Chris Haigh & Adrian Tucker's Trailer Scoring Competition in 2018. (She is currently in the process of updating & re-branding her Social Medias.)
