Web broadcast

The literary break-fast is moving online due to the coronavirus situation. You are welcome to join us, this time virtually on Thursday, 26 November 2020, at 8 p.m. Evening of readings will be streamed live on Facebook and YouTube, and later it will be available on the website of the X-OP Association.

This time the guests will be Eva Mlinar and Eva Mahkovic, the authors of the first graphic novel in Slovene Vinjete straholjubca. Last year, the work published by the VigeVageKnjige publishing house (2019) received the Book of the Year award at the 35th Slovenian Book Fair. The conversation will be moderated by Tonja Jelen.

"The truth that was supposed to set me free got lost somewhere along the way."
(Eva Mahkovic, from the song Yorkshire, Vignettes of a Coward)

Eva Mahkovic (born 1986) is a dramaturge and works at the Ljubljana City Theatre of Ljubljana (MGL). She also published a collection of FB poetry last year at the Beletrina publishing house, titled na tak dan najbolj trpi mastercard (on such a day, the mastercard suffers the most). For stage performances, she adapts novels (e.g., Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice, Jean-Paul Sartre Nausea) and translates. She created the independent drama debut of the Little Queens, which was staged in 2017 at the Ljubljana Puppet Theater (LGL).

Eva Mlinar (1985) graduated in art history at the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana and studied visual communications at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design, also in Ljubljana. She is an illustrator, visual artist, creates collage, draws graffiti. She participates in many projects both at home and abroad; Straniščne spletke, Lahkonočnice, Ciciban. She is engaged in illustration and creates mainly for theatre (she designs posters for theatre in New York, designs booklets for MGL), cinema (visual image of Kinotečnik), and newspapers (e.g., the image of the Tribune). Together with Hana Jesih, in 2018, she published the artist's book Impressions: Ljubljana / Istanbul, which is the result of their joint correspondence.
