Rody Gorman, presentation of the Irish-Scottish poet MMC KIBLA, Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at 19:00
The guest of the X-OP residency in Slovenia is an Irish-Scottish poet, editor and professor Rody Gorman, presented at the MMC KIBLA on Wednesday, April 25 at 7 pm.
Irish-Scottish poet and editor Rody Gorman is a literary resident in Maribor hosted by X-OP Society of Contemporary Art. Other Words / Druge besede in European project that promotes the literature of small and minority languages.
Rody Gorman was born in Dublin in 1960. He lectures in Creative Writing at the University of the Highlands and Islands and he has completed residencies at University College Cork, the University of Manitoba, PROGR in Bern and at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig where he lives. He edits the annual anthology An Guth and the Gaelic content of New Writing Scotland and Northwords Now. He has worked as an editor and a mentor for Scottish Book Trust and as a translator of work by Cavafy, Yeats, Neruda, Milosz, Rósewicz, Popa, Holub, Aspenstrom, Snyder and others. He has published poetry collections in English, Irish and Scottish Gaelic, most recently Trìtheamhan (2017). He is currently working on sequences relating to Mad Sweeney, Dublin and the Isle of Skye.
