GREEN ENERGY SKILLS FOR YOUTH
31.01.2017 10:00
Kick-off meeting, Istanbul, 23 January 2017

ACE KIBLA is a partner of the Erasmus+ Green Energy Skills for Youth project led by the Turkish-German University from Istanbul, Turkey. The project will last from January 2017 to December 2018.

The Green Energy Skills for Youth (GREEN4U) project will empower young people to actively contribute to the energy transition movement by means of serious games. GREEN4U supports the idea of energy owned by local communities, thus breaking the power that has been concentrated in the hands of only few across the entire Europe. Responding to the challenges of climate change, protection of the environment, the need for reducing greenhouse effects and emissions, as well as the preservation of ecosystems around the world - this is the message that the project participants want to transmit to the public, and motivate young people to build movements for a positive change.

GREEN4U will support youths' skills and networking by increasing their involvement in European decision-making processes related to the field of energy, and providing them with the tools and support needed to start their own community energy projects. Through active participation, the exchange of knowledge and specific education, GREEN4U provides space to stimulate youths' creativity towards concrete action and involvement in the development of renewable energy projects at a community level. "Green Energy Skills for Youth (GREEN4U)" will provide an interactive resource for young people aged between 13 and 25 years who have a passion for science, natural resources and renewable energy, like to brainstorm ideas, research and conduct experiments, and have fun. In this context, educational (serious) games will be developed with scenarios supporting critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills. The specific topics covered include climate change, ecosystems, energy and conservation, pollution, waste management and recycling, and carbon dioxide footprint.
