Cycle of microtonal music (DA(NE)S: Samo Pečar and Beno Soršak with guest
29.12.2015 21:00
Association for Contemporary Arts X-OP is inviting to the MMC KIBLA, Ulica Kneza Koclja 9, Maribor, on the second evening of microtonal music, which is hosted by excellent bass player and elsemore Samo Pečar and searcher for electronic junctions Beno Soršak and guest. This will also be this year's final concert in the unique cycle (DA)(NE)S, which was launched in 2007 as a festival and was suspended in 2014, and successfully continued this year as artistic, educational and scientific event that highlights "different" forms of tonal and atonal creativity and presents a microtonal music. This emphasizes the aspect of sound rarely exposed in the Slovenian area, because in our landscape aspect of rhythm is more comprehensible. It focuses on the specific placement of music being created "between individual piano keys", thus, microtonal music and music with alternative tuning.

At the forefront of the cycle are artistic explorations by contemporary musicians and intermedia artists from literally new creations of instruments, often self-built devices that better manifest this musical principle and are used for composing, recording and implementation of their own music, to take account of the specific inter-tonal and tonal relationships. From our classic seven-tone scale with five semitones that by the Shoenberg definition forms twelve-tone or dodecaphonic structure is micro-tonality separated that it does not expose the borders between tones, but works with the procedures of blending tone nuances of quarter-tones to even smaller.

Cycle (DA)(NE)S focuses on local-global artistic approach, which is located at the intersection of physical, acoustic and extremely electronic and is also the meeting point for contemporary authorial musical-visual events. The program involves various musicians, who take musical exploration primarily and are interested in experiment as the nucleus of art and artistic. Many times it happens that by using today's digital media and interfaces they exploit the potential of modern technologies and connect the sound with the picture or vice versa.

Samo Pečar in addition to playing in different bands (rock, hip hop, reggae, funk, metal, folk, improvised music), creates music for theater and dance performances, animation and audio visual performances.

Versatile Maribor musician and multimedia enthusiast Beno Soršak, guitarist, who studied jazz guitar in Klagenfurt, is also hiding behind the stage name Electric Boogie, which is synonymous to the unique ambient music experience. He creates authorial electronic music and does concerts in various musical ensembles and produces his own music in a studio. He's intensely dedicated to the musical production of radio and television advertisements and sound design for various productions.

The combination of the two top musicians, researchers, sound experimenters with musical instruments and other devices, which will be joined by guest on electronics and various acoustic instruments, guarantees exceptional event, with which will cycle (DA)(NE)S wave goodbye to 2015 and continue implementation of the set of program directions and furthermore inform on microtonal music, representing and promoting it in Maribor in 2016. We wish to make our ambitions come true.
