MIG 21 Art Exhibition on Tour MűvészetMalom, Ferenczy Múzeumi Centrum Szentendre, Hungary Opening: 7 September 2017, 18:00
Welcome to the opening of the group exhibition MIG 21 in Szentendre near Budapest, Hungary, on Thursday, 7 September 2017 at 7 p. m.. The exhibition was originally showing last year in Maribor on all three locations of ACE KIBLA. The art show was titled Migratory Interdisiciplinary Grid 21, and used artistic means to offer a humanist response to an entirely political question, an extension of military interventions in Africa and Asia. It was created as part of the European project Risk Change, and connected more than 50 artists showcasing more than 120 works.
The exhibition is now hosted by the Ferenczy Museum Center (Ferenczy Múzeumi Centrum), one of the pivotal art institutions in Hungary, which manages 17 of their most important national museums. The visiting art show will be displayed at the extraordinary contemporary art venue of Művészet Malom, or Art Mill in English. The international art exhibition on the topic of migrations MIG 21, starting with a press conference in the morning, will also inaugurate the annual Art Residency 2017 program, and close on 8 October 2017.
Because of a different kind of setting, curators of the show, Nina Jeza and Peter Tomaž Dobrila, and Hungary’s selector dr. Bela Marias, who wished to emphasize the international scope of the exhibition, selected a total of 19 exhibiting artists, who will be presented with over 50 works at the Art Mill show.
Alongside Slovenian artists, such as Marko Jakše, Metod Frlic, Srdjan Živulović, Jože Slaček, and Marko Brecelj, who will be performing the opening performance, the exhibition features works by the collective AES+F and Oleg Kulik (Russia), Žarko Bašeski (Macedonia), Bureau d’Etudes (France), Heather Dewey-Hagborg (USA), Jusuf Hadžifejzović (Bosnia-Herzegovina), Jovan Joca Jovanović and Raša Todosijević (Serbia), Herlinde Koelbl and Ulrich Wüst (Germany), Zbigniew Libera (Poland), Jan Macko (The Czech Republic), Mladen Stilinović (Croatia), and Adam Donova from Australia; an original work by Aleksandra Kostič with the MIG 21 brand image.
The exhibition MIG 21 is part of a series of large-scale international events of the four-year project Risk Change (2016–2020), co-financed by the Creative Europe program of the European Union. The project is also supported by the Municipality of Maribor and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia.
