OPEN CALL FOR ARTISTS PROGRAM 2018
22.08.2017 19:53
22 September 2017

KIBLA is hereby inviting Slovenian artists and creatives to submit proposals for their works from the field of contemporary arts:  interdisciplinary, intermedia, audio-visual, visual arts, and music, for the year 2018. This open call stands for independent proposals by individuals, as well as for collectives, institutions, producers, and mediators. There are no restrictions as to the medium, though we are especially looking forward to receiving proposals for innovative, technologically supported intermedia and interdisciplinary art works.

The conceptual focus is on a broad range of topics related to migrations and the continuous social and cultural changes occurring in the 21st century. Contemporary art crosses the limits of what is allowed, the limits of socially and generally accepted agreements; it explores and demonstrates the entrapment of the individual into norms and prescribed identities, and articulates the radically reduced feeling of freedom.

Selected contemporary works and/or programs will be presented individually, or as part of larger group exhibitions and festivals (links to examples below):

- on one of three locations used by KIBLA, Maribor: at the Multimedia center KIBLA (in the building of Narodni dom), in ArtKIT in the City hall building, or in KIBLA Portal on Valvasorjeva St. 40 in Maribor.

The proposed works can be ongoing projects, productions, co-productions, post-productions, or visiting/touring projects. Details of the collaboration, which includes guidance, expert counseling, and a complete public presentation setup (i.e. location/space, technical support, promotion, networking, photo/video documentation and possible printed publications related to the event/art work) will be discussed together with the selected artist or group representative. In selected cases, production means will also be available. Successfully implemented works and their authors will be promoted according to available resources, and networked in Slovenia and wider in Europe (by means of presentations, post-productions, reprises, tours, etc.) to meet with compatible national and international partners, and other institutions collaborating with KIBLA.

Please submit your applications together with a SHORT bios with a list of your most visible projects (+ links to websites), and a SHORT description of the project (concept + implementation/execution) accompanied by visual materials, and your contact.

Please submit your applications no later than 22 September 2017 to the following e-mail address:
kibla@kibla.org

or by post, to the address:
